Dear Brother Thampy Alex,
It is heartening to learn that Montfort Senior Secondary School, Delhi, has completed 50 Golden
Years in the cause of quality education. In the first place, I wish to offer my hearty congratulations
and warm Jubilee Greetings to all those who have been associated with Montfort. I am pleased to
learn that Montfort School is planning to bring out a Golden Jubilee Magazine Edition to commem-
orate this important milestone in the history of the institution. A Souvenir is doubtlessly a tribute to
the past, providing a kaleidoscopic view of the history of the institution. It is also a symbol of grati-
tude to all those who have labored tirelessly towards making Montfort what it has become today: a
temple of learning, where children are trained, shaped, and molded through love and care!
Since I had the privilege of visiting Montfort School a few times during the last two decades, I feel
confident to say that if Montfort has carved a niche for itself if Montfort has become a household
name if Montfort occupies a place of pride in the educational map of India, it is doubtlessly thanks
to the pioneers who laid a strong foundation, the successive Principals who steered the ship with
vision and passion, and above all thanks to decades of dedication by the Brothers, Sisters and the
teaching and non-teaching staff, the participative role played by the parents, the alumni becoming
brand ambassadors of their Alma Mater, and the encouragement and support received from the
Church and Civil authorities. On behalf of the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel, I wish to place on
record my sincere appreciation to each one of them for the significant role they have played in the
growth and development of Montfort, making it a premier educational institution in the country.
It is a proven fact that if Montfortian Education has to achieve its objective of training our boys and
girls to become men and women of competence and conscience, who will commit themselves to
the service of their fellow brothers and sisters, character formation has to be given primary im-
portance in the curriculum. As Dr. S. Radhakrishnan succinctly put it, “Education to be complete
should be humane; it should include not only the training of the intellect but also the refinement
of the heart and discipline of the spirit”. I applaud the efforts of Montfort Sr. Sec. School, Delhi,
to give special emphasis to co-curricular activities, which are designed not only to bring out their
God-given talents but also to offer them training in interpersonal relationship skills, which are so
essential for success in life. It is my earnest hope and sincere prayer that Montfort will continue to
be a trendsetter in the field of education, forming future citizens who are physically fit, intellectually
grounded, emotionally mature, spiritually oriented, and socially responsible.
