                                                                                         Archbishop of Delhi

The Montfort School at Ashok Vihar has completed 50 golden years of its existence in the city of
Delhi. During these five decades it has educated thousands of boys and girls to be responsible cit-
izens of our beloved motherland. The nation should be proud of this eminent institution and thank
the Church in India for its yeoman service in the field of education for five decades. Undoubtedly, the
value-based and quality education imparted by the Montfort Brothers in keeping with their religious
charism and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ has given this institution its immense reputation in the
                   city of Delhi.

It was in God’s almighty plan that Archbishop Angelo Fernandes of happy memory should invite the
Montfort Brothers from Hyderabad in 1969 to the Archdiocese of Delhi and hand over to them by
mutual agreement the plot of land at Wazirpur, Delhi, measuring 6.41 acres secured by the Arch-
diocese from the Delhi Development Authority for a Higher Secondary School after a struggle of 8
                   years.
According to records the new school began functioning from July 14, 1970 with 100 children on the
rolls divided into five classes (KG to V). The Montfort Brothers with their dedication to the educa-
tional apostolate, loyalty to the Archdiocese of Delhi and commitment to the Church’s mission have
amply justified the decision of the Archbishop. Only the ‘institution for the handicapped’ mentioned
in the agreement has not yet materialized. I pray that the late Archbishop’s vision and plan should
not be allowed to go into oblivion.
On this very joyful occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the Montfort School at Ashok Vihar, I congrat-
ulate the Principal, Staff and Students for the achievements the school has attained in all curric-
ular and co-curricular activities while not forgetting the invaluable contribution of the past pupils,
                   principals and staff.
On behalf of the Archdiocese of Delhi I pray God to bless Montfort School in abundance and give it
                   an ever brighter future.
                   CRESCAT ET FLOREAT!
